Due to the obvious difficulty and on-going expense of cleaning the exterior glass on Auckland’s tallest landmark, ClearShield was the choice of architects when it came to protecting the glass. Treatment with ClearShield was undertaken prior to installation. This meant any harsh inorganic contaminants on the glass, such as concrete splatter and cement dust, was easier to remove during its construction. Therefore ClearShield reduces potential costly delays during construction and provides a significantly lower-cost alternative to replacing the glass due to surface damage.
ClearShields on-going benefits will also ensure a reduction in the frequency of clean and the ease of clean of the glass, as well as resisting any staining or discolouration. As a result, ClearShield has ensured huge labour saving costs.
Auckland International Airport
ClearShield was employed to treat the airway side of the Auckland International Airport as well as the control tower. Hydrocarbon pollution from jet engine exhausts would normally lead to stained and discoloured glass but with the resistant properties of ClearShield the glass has retained its clarity. Benefits also included reducing the frequency of cleaning and the ease of clean.
More recently in 2014, ClearShield restored and treated the Apron Tower which is responsible for aircraft once it is grounded. Clear visibility of the glass is naturally paramount and needless to say, the staff are impressed. See comments as below:
“They are reporting a big difference and I'm up here now and given the weather we have had over the last couple of days, the windows are spotless. Safe to say, we are very impressed.”
“Yes, I noticed a great difference. Huge improvement in visibility now. Water just beads straight off.”
MEGA cafe PUKEKOHE
Due to the close proximity of the sprinkler system to the glass from the garden centre surrounding the cafe, the glass had developed severe water staining. The glass was restored by ClearShield Glass Auckland so the customers could once again enjoy the view out to the garden centre.
Go Bus have a fleet of 1800 buses nationwide. Repetitive water staining on the glass resulted in impaired visibility not only for the driver but for the passenger too. Presentation of the fleet was let down due to the contamination of the glass to the point where it was even difficult to see from the outside in. Several companies were approached but only ClearShield could eliminate the problem due its superior, more durable system. Every week there are buses being restored and treated and the fleet’s glass is now looking as good as the day it was installed. The drivers are very happy with the presentation of the buses and are especially happy with the improved visibility in the rain while the passengers get to view our lovely countryside with unobstructed viewing.
